Photo Rates and Photographic Usage

The photographic rates usage structure is for South African clients only. If you are a client working outside of South Africa please contact me for rates for your country.
Commissions
Half and full-day assignment rates for surf and commercial photography are available upon request. These rates vary depending on the assignment and conditions of the shoot will be negotiated and agreed upon beforehand.
Buy Out Rates
Limited Buy Out
AVG Photo will negotiate with the customer to agree upon a suitable rate. This buy out includes unlimited use of an image for a set period of time (eg. 2 years). This is not the outright purchasing of an image. The AVG Photo retains copyright (the photo must therefore always be credited). AVG Photo holds the original.
Outright buyout
AVG Photo will negotiate with the customer to agree upon a suitable rate. Generally, an outright buyout involves the purchasing of the original image. The customer holds that original, can use it as they wish and is not obliged to credit the photographer.

- Editions - A new edition is defined as a book with a new ISBN number. A revised edition will be charged at 50% of applicable rate.
- Second use in same edition - 50% discount.
- Double page spread - Full page rate + 70%.
- Back Cover - 80% of front cover rate.
- Wrap-around cover - Front cover rate + 50%.
- Composite cover - 1/4 page or less: 40% of front cover rate. 1/2 page: 60% of front cover rate.
